About Us – CompX Timberline
CompX Timberline started in 1981 as Timberline Supply. Our goal was to produce the finest locks, locking systems and anti-tip systems for the wood office and cabinet industry. Prior to 1981, most locks offered to this customer base were either systems developed for the very large manufacturers or to European specifications. These locks were difficult to install or did not fit the application. When introduced in 1981, the Timberline Supply product was immediately seen as innovative for its ease of installation, flexibility in use, customer service and on-time delivery. Since our beginning we have developed a complete line of locks, gang lock systems, the snap-in lock core, SYS-400 anti-tip system and the File Frame system. In 1998 Timberline Supply was bought by CompX International Inc. (NYSE MKT: CIX) and became CompX Timberline. We were now part of CompX Security Products, which includes CompX National, CompX Fort and CompX Chicago. In 2007, we left our original home in Lake Bluff, IL and moved to our new facility in Grayslake, IL. In 2007, we also began to see a need for a keyless, invisible locking system. After months of research and development, the architecture for our new lock was developed. In February 2010, StealthLock was launched as the first keyless, invisible locking system designed specifically for wood furniture, cabinetry and lockers.
